Finding a job in Finland is hard, specially without Finnish language skills. In this short booklet you'll read the story of more than 30 people who managed to find jobs in Finland without fluent Finnish. 

The stories are from the people I've met offline or those who kindly shared it with me on Linkedin, and then gave me consent to publish it in this book.

Enlightening set of stories of both success and failure. Tenacity, resilience and humility come through as useful tools for success for internationals seeking work in Finland. In one story I read: "One company in Helsinki offered her a position, but they only agreed to accept her if she could benefit from a program by the employment office that paid the salary of job seekers for 4 months to encourage companies to hire them. With that program the company offered her a temporary 6 month contract to get to know her." I was thinking about that... it shows the importance of law/policy, but ... on a human level... it would take some humility and grace to give your all to a job that is framed in those terms. Because the audience of this booklet are the unemployed internationals in Finland who might be on a tight budget. I'm fortunate to be employed now, so I don't have to charge them.

Why "pay what you like" if free is fine?

When someone optionally pays I translate it to something like this: "hey, I see you spend sometime and created something and added something to the world that didn't exist before. Even though it's just a few words, I appreciate that you tried. And I'll go get my wallet, even if I don't have to."

Too short?

The first release is just 5627 words. If I get positive feedback I'll keep writing and asking people to send me more stories. Also feel free to send me your stories to make this a large book no one has time to finish.
